Hello! I'm Lyle — a software designer building tools for the web.

I'm currently a lead designer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where I work on operations and spacecraft visualization software for missions like Mars 2020 and Europa Clipper.

Beyond NASA, I'm occasionally building things with friends at Everything & Nothing and always making something. Lately I've been enjoying React, sync engines, and threejs — I'm tending experiments and learnings in a small digital garden.

About

I'm a designer living in Los Angeles, California. I got an early start making things on the computer with Kid Pix, HyperCard, and silly websites with lots of <blink> elements. For the past 10 years I've been making things professionally, and while I'd call myself a generalist, my depth is designing interfaces and interactions for technical domains.

Before Los Angeles, I lived in Seattle and studied International Relations and Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Washington. When I'm not a human interacting with a computer, I enjoy slow things like reading sci-fi and building furniture, as well as a few fast things like snowboarding and skiing.

Thanks for stopping by! If you'd like to connect or talk shop, feel free to reach out.
